Working to improve biodiversity in Henfield

The Countryside team have been working in partnership with the Henfield Conservation Volunteers to manage HDC's land in the village. At the Tanyard, additional native hedging including Hawthorn and Hazel has been planted which will provide fruit, shelter, and cover for wildlife. Yellow Rattle, also called the meadow-maker, which weakens dominant grasses allowing wildflowers to flourish, has been sown and is now blooming.

While on Henfield Common, non-native invasive Wilson’s honeysuckle in the woodland has been dug out and a log pile in the Western Triangle created. Common Lizards have been recorded on the Common, and we hope the log pile will provide shelter and a basking place.

Have your say on improving the lives of children and young people

WSCC would like to hear your thoughts and ideas to help them develop a plan that will help give children and young people in West Sussex the best start in life.

The Children and Young People’s Plan explains how they will work with partners to give each child and young person the support they need to achieve their potential.

The current plan went live in early 2022 and runs until the end of this year.

They will be updating the plan for 2026 to 2029 and want to consult with children and young people, families, and professionals to ensure their voices are heard and represented in the refreshed plan.
