DO YOU USE THE NO. 17 BUS TO HORSHAM OR BRIGHTON?
HENFIELD PARISH COUNCIL WANT YOUR VIEWS ON STOPS, SHELTERS AND SIGNAGE
Users of the 17 Bus are being asked to suggest improvements to local bus stops and to suggest the best new places for bus shelters to be installed.
These ideas will be shared with the WSCC Bus Service Improvement team who will decide if they are feasible, safe and affordable.
Henfield might be lucky and get a new shelter or better bus waiting areas!
If you have any thoughts, suggestions or comments, including on making the bus stops more accessible, please email us at office@henfield.gov.uk and we will pass your suggestions on.
Please come along on the 11th December to find out about the Parish Energy Plan for Henfield, also open to Small Dole residents.

Local Government Reorganisation: new consultation launches
The government has launched a consultation on local government reorganisation (LGR) for Sussex and Brighton.
Their aim is to replace the current two-tier arrangements, which have services delivered by both county and district and borough councils with a new single-tier unitary model, with one council responsible for local services in an area.
Our shared business case and option recommendations were submitted on 26 September 2025. The Government consultation asks for views on proposals for the whole of Sussex including Brighton and Hove.
Find out more and have your say by 11.59pm on 11 January 2026.
Council requests re-opening of Local Plan examination
Horsham District Council has formally written to Planning Inspector Luke Fleming to request the re-opening of the Horsham District Local Plan examination, citing changes in circumstances since the original hearings in December 2024.
Many of the Inspector’s earlier findings were closely tied to the now superseded water neutrality requirements, which it believes means they are no longer relevant. The Council is calling for the examination hearings to be re-opened so that the Local Plan can move forward without further delay.
Weekly household food waste collections will launch in Horsham District in the spring of 2026. The exact dates will depend on where you live and what days your bins are currently collected. Food waste | Horsham District Council
West Sussex County Council and the local NHS are inviting carers, and anyone who knows or supports a carer, to share their views on the priorities for the refreshed Carers Strategy. The strategy sets out how organisations will work together to identify and support family and friend carers across the county and is now being reviewed and updated.
Everyone in West Sussex is welcome to take part—including carers, young people, professionals and local organisations. To register your interest in being part of strategy development or to find out more, please email carercommissioning@westsussex.gov.uk or call 03302 226 111.
WSCC is inviting feedback on proposals to improve two key routes in Horsham, aiming to make everyday journeys safer, quicker and more sustainable.
The proposals focus on Rusper Road (between the town centre and Mowbray) and Guildford Road (between the town centre and Broadbridge Heath), both vital routes for accessing schools, workplaces and local services.
