The Cat House sits behind Pinchnose Green. It is one of the curiosities of Henfield. A past owner, Bob Ward owned a canary. Canon Nathaniel Woodward (who lived in Martyn Lodge just to the east) owned a cat. The cat killed the canary which greatly upset Bob Ward. So he put up images of the cat & canary which Canon Woodward would have passed each time he went to Church. Bob also arranged shells on wires to jangle and a black figure to appear at the 'zulu hole' whenever the Canon passed. This man could hold a grudge.
