HENFIELD MEMORIAL FIELD RENOVATIONS - LATEST NEWS

On behalf of all the Parish Council and our partners in the project we would like to thank all our parishioners and visitors for keeping off the pitches whilst the works have been completed.  The work has been formally certified as complete and the fencing was removed on 31st May 2018.  It is now re-opened for public use although we will not be using it for competitive football until September, giving the surface more time to mature.   Please see full information about this and the rededication event HERE

EATONS BRIDGE

Works started at the end of April to install a replacement footbridge across the River Adur. West Sussex Public Rights of Way Office said that work was expected to take approximately 7 weeks, weather and ground conditions permitting.  Recent heavy rains has made the ground too soft for heavy plant, so finalisation of the work has been delayed for a short while.

The new bridge will be a fibreglass reinforced polymer (FRP) footbridge, with a single span between the riverbanks and without the need for two piers in the channel, unlike the existing structure.

2019 HORSHAM YEAR OF CULTURE

Horsham District Council has recently announced that 2019 will be its Year of Culture with a range of events and activities taking place to celebrate the culture and heritage that we have throughout the district.

Henfield has decided to participate with its own 2019 Year of Culture and to encourage local people and organisations to organise events and activities which celebrate our own culture and heritage. We hope this will be interesting and entertaining for our residents and encourage visitors to come along and join in. We have also agreed to work in partnership with our neighbours in Woodmancote and Shermanbury and we hope that the activities will take place across our three parishes. Henfield Community Partnership has agreed to take on the task of leading and organising our Year of Culture events and Liz Taylor has agreed to Chair the Organising Committee which has recently had its first meeting. They hope to develop a calendar of events throughout the year culminating in a Henfield Festival Week which will take place in June 2019 and which will include the popular Festival of Gardens & Arts and a new version of our Summer Show & Fayre with the organisation of this event transferring from the Parish Council to an organising committee led by the Community Partnership.

If you or your organisation are interested in participating by organising an event during 2019 or you would like to contribute ideas we would love to hear from you.
